Iris Complex is an institution for film, performance, and research into the human soul: what it endures, and what deadly comfort costs it.

Iris Complex holds that people are resilient, adaptable, and fragile all at once, and that the greatest danger to a life is often not hardship but deadly comfort: the acceptance of circumstance as identity. It believes people have come to distrust their own direct experience, handing their judgment to feeds, experts, and consensus.

Drawing on communities and cultures encountered across the world, its films, performances, and research exist to return people to what they can see and feel for themselves. That is why every Iris Complex screening opens with a live performance: some things must be witnessed in the room.
